No One to Hear Me Scream, No One to Hear Me Cry
The group had finally accomplished their vengeance, and now it was time to put their pasts behind them. As the group headed to sleep, neglecting to set a watch for the first time in light of their triumphs, they resolved to head back to the city the next day and bury the bodies of any of their kin that they could find.
As Lloyd slept, a vision wriggled its way through the folds of. His unconscious mind, planting itself at the forefront of his thoughts and taking the form of an insatiable abomination of flesh. Lloyd found himself trapped within his own mind, standing hours prior, back in front of the monstrous Llensachkt once again. The coiled body of the monster stretching through the rubble strewn about, the hideous sound of its belly scraping along the ground as it arduously rotated itself to face him filling the air like the screams of hell rising up. The many clawed legs pulling the form around. After what seemed like an eternity, Lloyd found himself face-to-face with the front end of the creature that had ruined his life.
What he faced was more like the end of a worm than the face of a snake, which is what he had been expecting to find. The scales continued around the round body and up to the flat end of the creature, coming together in the center and creating a radial pattern. Surrounding the top half of that pattern an endless number of eyes rotated within half-filled sockets to size him up and down.
As Lloyd stood, surrounded by an infinite darkness and his limbs like those of a statue, he could do nothing but watch as the front of the creature split open. From the center of the radial circle of scales on its ‘face’ and continuing down the form in a jagged line, the scales and flesh ripped apart. Behind the wall of scales, Lloyd witnessed a number of fleshy appendages uncoiling and pulling apart from one another, as if the interior of the creature was formed of no more than an improbable number of scaled worms knotted together into this large form.
As the creature pulled itself apart, it reared its front up on its foremost set of legs, revealing the opening tube of flesh and scales directly in front of Lloyd. It was at the point that Lloyd’s eyes widened in terror, moreso than they had already been peeled open thus far. Staring back at Lloyd from within the confines of the beast was none other than himself. The body was completely stripped of gear and armor and was almost featureless save for the face. The flesh of this form had a red hue like the inside of a mouth, similar in color and texture to the surrounding flesh of the Llensachkt. The arms and legs were splayed outwards in twisted fashion, and by the hands and feet were directly connected to the rest of the creature.
